...in the neighbourhood of the Locanda
LA VERNA, meeting St. Francis
A mystic place surrounded by a special atmosphere, where you can breathe peace and quiet: here St. Francis received the stigmata. As the time went by this inaccessible place, a calcareous peak covered by forests of fir and old beech trees, changed into a place of worship, becoming the most important Franciscan sanctuary after Assisi. To go to La Verna is to search oneself, visiting a place out of the time, immersed in the green of the Tuscan mountain. So, in a small place like this one you can find a great spiritual wealth, starting from the wild nature around it.

AREZZO, a precious city
The culture of the Etruscan past and the glories of the Roman period: the city of Arezzo has very ancient roots which made of it a great center of culture and art, also famous for the goldsmith manufacture. Arezzo is revealed to the visitors as a pleasant surprise: it’s easy being fascinated by the art preserved in the museums and the churches of the old town, by the works of Piero della Francesca and by the architecture of Vasari, one of its most famous citizens along with Petrarca, Guido Monaco and Francesco Redi. Walking among its beautiful building of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance it’s like having a walk through the centuries, recalling years of history and culture. A bridge between the past and the present…just like when you are in the middle of Piazza Grande with its towers-houses and its big buildings recalling the glories of the past. It’s not a coincidence that the oldest antique fair in Italy and the Giostra del Saracino take place in Arezzo every year, even Dante wrote: every corner of Arezzo has something to tell about a past that there is no more but that formed the modern city.

CORTONA, tipically Tuscan
This village is the prototype of the Tuscan city in the global imaginary: a paradise of peace, located in the green of the sweet Tuscan hills where you can taste some very good wine. But Cortona is much more than this. Its origins are lost in the myth, marked mainly by the Etruscan domination that made of it one of the most important centers thanks to its easily defensible strategic position and its commercial importance: in fact, the town has a rich archeological heritage. The favorable climatic conditions facilitated the cultivation of the grapevine and nowadays it is one of the main producers of excellent Tuscan wines. You can enjoy a beautiful panorama from the top of its 650 m. of altitude in the Tuscan countryside, almost up to the Trasimeno Lake in Umbria.
